一、英汉习语中所反映的文化差异

　　朱光潜先生在《谈翻译》一文中说："外国文学最难了解和翻译的第一是联想的意义……"， "它带有特殊的情感氛围，甚深广而微妙，在字典中无从找出，对文学却极要紧。如果我们不熟悉一国的人情风俗和文化历史背景，对于文字的这种意义就茫然，尤 其是在翻译时这种字义最不易应付。"英国文化人类学家爱德华·泰勒在《原始文化》（1871）一书中，首次把文化作为一个概念提了出来，并表述为："文化 是一种复杂，它包括知识、信仰、艺术、道德、法律、风俗以及其

      在翻译长句时，首先，不要因为句子太长而产生畏惧心理，因为，无论是多么复杂的句子，它都是由一些基本的成分组成的。
      其次要弄清英语原文的句法结构，找出整个句子的中心内容及其各层意思，然后分析几层意思之间的相互逻辑关系，再按照汉语的特点和表达方式，正确地译出原文的意思，不必拘泥于原文的形式。
一、英语长句的分析

一般来说，造成长句的原因有三方面： (1) 修饰语过多；(2) 并列成分多； (3) 语言结构层次多。
在分析长句时可以采用下面的方法：
(1) 找出全句的主语、谓语和宾语，从整体上把握句子的结构。
(2) 找出句中所有的谓语结构、非谓语动词、介词短语和从句的引导词。

 
   状语从句内容丰富，涉及面广，可以用来表示时间、原因、条件、让步、目的、结果、等意义。英语状语从句的翻译，一般比较容易处理，通常可以直接翻译。但是这里我们所要讨论的是，在汉语译文中，要如何将状语从句置于恰当的位置，并如何将其与主句之间自然连贯地连接起来，如何按汉语的习惯表达将句子类型进行相应的变化。由于两种语言表达上的不同，在状语从句的安排方面，存在着明显的差异，所以在翻译的时候也需要根据汉语习惯来灵活翻译。 
一、时间状语从句 
翻译的时候，一般翻译在主句的前面。 
在英语中，时间状语从句的连接词常常
有：
when（当...的时候）
whenever（每当...）
as（当...时）
 since（自从...）
until（直到...，如果不....）

          Attributive clauses are widely used in English. In many cases, sentences are made very long because of attributive clauses. Hence it is important to have a correct comprehension and an accurate translation of attribute clauses. 英语名词性从句包括主语从句、宾语从句、表语从句和同位语从句。在翻译时，词序一般不变，但有时也需采取一些其他处理方法。

 

I. 主语从句的译法
Ａ.“It+被动语态+that”句型

这种句型通常要译成汉语里的主动句，并增译出“大家”“我们” “有人” “人们”等泛指性的主语。该译法的特点保留了原文句子结构的前后顺序，即：先主句，后从句。有时也可译为“据……”的句型。如：
It is reported that the Summit Meeting will be held in December.

试比较：
晒粮食
晒太阳

晒粮食 （to dry the grain)
晒太阳   (to dry the sun??)

中国队大   胜   美国队。
